COWDENBEATH received another blow this week, following their William Hill Scottish Cup defeat by East Kilbride, when it was revealed that goalkeeper Joe McGovern had picked up a cruciate ligament injury.

The 23 year-old, who had been holding down the number one shirt since the start of the season, sustained the injury in training and it will keep him out for some months.

Manager Billy Brown has not had his problems to seek in the first quarter of the season with this the latest blow.

He said: "It is a real set-back for the club and Joe who has been doing really well since joining us.

"It is an injury that needs a lot of time to heal so we will face being without Joe for some months."

Cowden will be relying on veteran Dave McGurn and teenager Blair Penman as their 'keepers for the foreseeable future.
