THE Cowdenbeath based Happy Days Club has received a timely boost from the ‘happy fundraisers’ at a local store.

On Friday the Community Champion at the Morrison’s Superstore in High Street, Deborah Graham, dropped in to the Happy Days Club to surprise them with a cheque for £552.50.

The Happy Days Club was originally set up to provide an outing for the housebound, elderly and less-able adults in the local community and beyond.

Anyone can attend who wishes to enjoy the company of others whilst being entertained by singers, have a game of bingo and refreshments.

The Club meet on a Friday from 12pm - 3pm at Broad Street Centre, Cowdenbeath, and make all welcome.

Said Deborah: “We have supported the club with various events throughout the year and it was a privilege to present Danny and Tom with the cheque.

“The money raised was through a bucket collection at the checkouts over a few weeks and on behalf of all our team in store and on behalf of The Happy Days Club, we would like to thank our customers for their support.

“Every penny dropped into the buckets really is making a difference in the community”.

Added Deborah: “This now takes our store total to £16,615.54 this year to help support local clubs, charities, groups and schools within our community, through bag packing and bucket collections.

“None of this would be possible without the support and generosity of our customers.

“In addition to this, our customers have also raised £866.80 to support our charity partner CLIC Sargent - in the fight to stop cancer destroying young lives. For more information please visit clicsargent.org.uk/morrisons.

“We would also like to remind local registered charities of The Morrisons Foundation. If you are undertaking projects to improve people’s lives and you are in need of support, please visit www.morrisonsfoundation.com for more details and to apply.”
