COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing is encouraging bus users across the constituency to get involved in two new public consultations that will help shape the future of bus services and 'smart ticketing' in Scotland.

Transport Scotland will conduct a number of events and stakeholder workshops to encourage participation in these consultations before they close on December 5.

Commenting, Ms Ewing said: “Transport Scotland’s have launched two new consultations offering the public and stakeholders in Cowdenbeath an important opportunity to have their say on how best to improve Scotland’s bus services.

“In order to develop an effective, joined-up, Scotland-wide smart ticketing and payment service, it is important that as many transport operators, public bodies and users as possible are consulted.

“I want to see as many people as possible sharing their views to help make bus services the best they can be".

The MSP added: “While not about individual local bus services, these parallel consultations into the future of the framework within local bus services should operate and the development of more efficient ticketing systems are a great opportunity to influence the way in which public transport in this country is taken forward in years to come.

“As well as those announced, there are three other consultations already ongoing - into roadworks, concessionary travel and low emission zones in which those with an interest in public transport might consider participating.”
