CROSSGATES Gala could end this weekend after the village Events Committee has called a crisis meeting.

The events committee has put up posters all over the village to try and let the people of Crossgates know about the situation and ask people to go to Sunday's meeting at 3pm in the Crystal Bar on Main Street.

The notice says: "Crossgates Events Committee-Notice of Dissolution.

"It is with a heavy heart that we must notify our community of the proposed dissolution of Crossgates Events Committee.

"Due to the poor turn out at the annual general meeting it was agreed that the committee cannot continue and therefore must be dissolved.

"Unless willing bodies, in particular a chairperson, step forward our gala will fold at this meeting."

The gala has been running now for several years but chairperson Barry Tillier announced before the July event that he was having to stand down after being involved since the re-start of the community event.

It would appear that there has not been anyone willing to replace him which is making the future of the gala seem fragile.

However, hopefully people will come forward to get involved on Sunday.
