A SPECIAL fundraiser will take place in Lochgelly next month backing two good causes, Macmillan Cancer Relief and the Victoria Hospital Hospice at Kirkcaldy.

Behind the event, which will be run at Torleys in the town on Saturday October 14, is Steven Izatt, who’s aunt Liz McPherson, died a few weeks ago after suffering from cancer.

The treatment she received, from macmillan nurses and staff at the hospice, impressed Steven and the family and it was decided that it would be good to hold a fundraiser in memory of Liz.

The event at Torleys will take the form of an 80’s themed disco and with some tickets still left Steven would welcome anyone wanting to get involved to call him on 07844233392.

He said: “Aunt Liz was really well looked after by both the macmillan nurses and also the staff at the Hospice so it was felt that they should be backed by this event.

“It will be a night where there will be a lot of fun and also a big raffle thanks to the support we have had from businesses in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area.

“With the macmillan coffee mornings taking place later this month it is perhaps poignant that this organisation is involved.”

Prizes have been received from both Celtic and Rangers Football Clubs, McCalls shops in Lumphinnans and Lochgelly; the KLM Salon, in Cowdenbeath; Special Occasions, Lochgelly; the Lochgelly Darts Association; The Golden Fry fast food outlet in Lochgelly; the Bowhill Railway Tavern; Torleys; Shardy’s, Lochgelly; the Minto and West End Bars, in Lochgelly; the King’s Arms, Lochgelly; DZine Lighting, Cowdenbeath; Fife Flowers, Lochgelly; Costcutters, Lochgelly; Uptown Girl, Cowdenbeath; Kooners, Lochgelly; Sweet Chestnut Halbeath; Heavenly Scents and Heavens; Cakes by Hazel of Dunfermline; Silk Flowers, Cowdenbeath and the NISA store in Lochgelly.

And by the time the event takes place there could be more.
