A LOCHGELLY heroin dealer, who had a large quantity of drugs in his home and later on his body when he was searched, has been jailed for 32 months.

Stewart Murray, 32, admitted that between April 20 and August 9 at an address in Main Street, Lochgelly, and at Dunfermline police station, he was concerned in the supply of diamorphine.

Depute fiscal Ron Hay said police received information that Murray was involved in the supply of heroin at his home in Main Street, Lochgelly.

When a search warrant was granted and executed, Murray was not at home but a female was present, saying she was staying there for a few days.

In the property, there was a bag found containing more than 100 grams of heroin, with a potential street value of £10,600. There were also two sets of scales, three mobile phones and £215 in cash.

When he was interviewed by police later, Murray said he was keeping the drugs for someone.

On August 9, Murray was arrested on a warrant and taken to Dunfermline police station. During a strip search, a bag of heroin “fell from his anus” said the depute. The drugs had a value of around £730, he added.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett admitted his client had a “fairly substantial record” and a long history of drug misuse.

Sheriff Charles MacNair told Murray: “You have a bad record of drug-related offences including a previous conviction for dealing.”
