A CROSSHILL man has been jailed for more than eight months for repeatedly offending, including a threat to kill the family dog.

Michael Wallace made the threat during an angry confrontation with his then partner, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.

Wallace, 29, of Inchgall Avenue, admitted that on February 13, at Castle Avenue, Crossshill, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and acting aggressively towards his then partner and others and made threats to kill a family pet.

He also admitted that on February 24 at Castle Avenue, Crosshill, he acted in an aggressive manner, shouted, swore, uttered threats of violence, brandished a knife and struck a door with the knife, causing damage to it.

He also admitted that between April 1 and August 16, he breached bail conditions not to contact his then partner at an address in Dunfermline.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf said of the first offence: “The accused became angry when his partner couldn't find children’s school clothing and he started shouting, becoming more aggressive.

“He was frightening the dog with his actions and his partner asked him to stop. He said: ‘I’ll slit the dog’s throat’.”

Wallace later told police that the dog had tried to attack him.

The depute said the Castle Avenue incident began at around 4am at a party. Wallace became involved in an altercation and then began brandishing a knife. When police arrived, Wallace was still in the house and threatening to kill people.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: “This was a fairly lengthy altercation involving a number of parties.

“A significant amount of drink had been taken and his partner became aware of some sort of sexual contact between the accused and another female. Not surprisingly, she became very angry.

“Several people then became involved in a heated confrontation.”

On the threat to kill the dog, Mr Flett said: “The dog was a 13-stone rottweiler which has since been destroyed as an order of the court after it attacked a neighbour.”

Sheriff Charles MacNair jailed Wallace for three months plus another 166 days, making a total of around eight-and-a-half months.
