A TEENAGE Cowdenbeath motorcycle racer is showing immense potential since stepping up this season from Minimoto racing.

His performances at East Fortune and Knockhill over the past few weeks have been very impressive.

Logan Turner is 13 and was junior A Scottish Minimoto champion in 2011 and is currently the junior C and lightweight production UK Minimoto champion for 2016.

The Beath High School pupil said: “As well as racing my Minibikes since I was 5, I have just started racing an Aprilia Rs 125 in the Scottish Championships at East Fortune and Knockhill.”

His dad James has always been involved in motorsport and older son Tommy, who is now 21, was a successful racer.

James said: “Logan started going to motor racing when he was about two years-old and by the time he was five he was climbing aboard the kids’ machines.

“He has really has gone on from strength to strength and is now enjoying racing his 125 and is determined to do well.”

Logan added: “I had my first races on the 125 immediately after passing my test at East Fortune which was a steep learning curve, but I managed three 5th place finishes and a 7th after qualifying last in the wet, which was my first time on the bike at a track”.

He was there at the weekend but a serious accident saw his Saturday involvement cut short.

Said James: “Unfortunately on the Saturday there was a bad crash in the Super Bike class resulting in the tragic loss of a long time competitor, Frank Dignam, who was 63, and understandably racing was cancelled on Saturday.

“The Sunday went ahead and Logan had qualified 5th. He made some great starts and was in with leaders but we think they have slightly quicker bikes and he went on to finish 5th, 4th and 3rd in his three races held on Sunday.

“He reduced his lap time and was fast all day with some excellent close racing.

“There was lots of positives to take from this to the next meeting at Knockhill on the September 2 and 3 where we hope to have a new engine that will compete with the leaders.”

Logan is always on the look out for sponsors and they can contact him through Facebook.
