KINGLASSIE Action Group will be lighting up the village this Christmas, thanks to a grant of £5,000 from the Infinis Westfield Community Fund.

The award will allow them to purchase new Christmas lights for Kinglassie Main Street.

The group plan to use a mixture of off the shelf designs, supplemented by a number of bespoke designs, which they plan to develop with the village primary school children.

Tony Crombie, of Infinis, said, “It’s reassuring that monies generated by the wind farm can go to the local communities and be used to support activities and events, especially in respect to Kinglassie when it is at a time of year that is all about families and communities coming together.”

The Mitchell Hall Resource Centre has also been awarded a grant from the Westfield Fund.

The Centre received £3,000 to help cover the cost of installing stage lighting, including independent circuit boards, special fixtures and discrete lighting.

The Fund is provided by Infinis the owner of the Westfield Wind Farm, on the outskirts of the village. The Fund will make available £37,500 per annum (index linked) to local causes for the life of the Wind Farm, which is expected to be up to 25 years, with the monies being split between the communities of Cardenden, Kinglassie and Benarty.
