A KELTY woman caught drink driving after her friend had reported her to police was ordered to pay a hefty fine this week.

Jennifer Thompson, 23, of Beechbank Crescent, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

She had earlier admitted than on February 26 this year, on Beechbank Crescent and elsewhere, she drove after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in her breath was 77 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath which exceeded legal limit of 22 microgrammes.

Depute Fiscal, Azrah Yousaf, said police officers were called at around 1.30am and told that Thompson was known to be driving her vehicle from Dunfermline to Kelty.

The officers saw her drive into her driveway and get out of her vehicle.

"She went into the house despite officers calling on her to speak to her," she told the Court. "They followed her into the house and detected alcohol in her breath."

Solicitor, James Moncrieff, said his client had been at her friend's house at a time when she was having difficulties in her personal life.

"She had consumed alcohol and made the decision to drive home. The friend contacted the police due to concerns they had for her. She wasn't angry with her friend and appreciates her friend was looking out for her.

"She understands and acknowledges the potential harm there could have been as a result of her actions."

Sheriff Charles Macnair fined Thompson £675 and banned her from driving for 19 months.
