Cowdenbeath 0, Dundee 3.

Betfred Cup Group C

Attendance-1321

THE Premiership side proved much too strong for Cowdenbeath in last night’s Betfred game at Central Park.

Their giant striker, Sofien Moussa, had a field day using his powerful build to give young Cowden ‘keeper Joe McGovern a torrid evening.

The youngster kept working away at his game but the big striker was a real threat every time he had the ball.

However, when he was subbed in the second period things become a whole lot more manageable for Cowden's central defensive due of Scott Rumsby and David Syme.

Cowden did look dangerous when they attacked and Josh Morris, Cammy Muirhead and Harvey Swann all had decent efforts at goal.

Dundee threatened in four minutes when Scott Allan’s curling free-kick was held by McGovern.

The visitors threatened in 12 minutes when a long cross into the home box was met by Moussa but he guided the ball just wide.

But in 17 minutes he hit the net when another cross was met by MOUSSA and this time he fired home from ten yards out.

In 20 minutes Cowden threatened when Robbie Buchanan set up Swann on the edge of the box but his 18 yard drive was charged down by Darren O’Dea and three minutes later it was 2-0. It was MOUSSA again who got in front of Rumsby and nodded home from close in.

In 29 minutes Morris saw his low six yard drive bravely blocked by Scott Bain.

Cowden continued to press towards the interval but five minutes from the break MOUSSA completed his hat-trick with another close in finish as the home defence was pierced again.

The Blue Brazil started the second-half positively and Rumsby’s header went just over from a Muirhead assist.

However, with an hour gone the Dees threatened again when Roarie Deacon chased a ball into the box and his chip landed on the top of the net.

Moussa was replaced by Marcus Haber and the pace went out of the Dundee raids.

With 15 minutes left Swann beat two Dundee defenders and his low shot hit a visiting defender on the line but the ball stayed out and after that Dundee never threatened.
