THIS week's Down Memory Lane photos come from exiles, one living not too far away, the other a few hundred miles.

Alex Westwater now lives in Dunfermline but came across in his home.

He said: "A group of prizewinners of an 'essay on home safety competition' which involved all the schools in Cowdenbeath.

"I was at Beath Junior High at the time and we are pictured holding the certificates we were given. I am second from the right in the second row and on my left is George Stein. We were also given books and I still have mine, 'Stirring stories for boys'."

The other three pictures come from Annie Thomson, from Kent, formerly of Lochgelly.

She recalls: "I remember my mother being particularly fond of these postcards.

"The one of Main Street looks from the The Cross with a tartan background taken the best part of 100 years ago; the one of The Clune brings back memories for myself; and the one of Cowdenbeath again has to be 80 plus years old."

If you have any old photographs you would like to see in our Down Memory Lane feature send them to editorial@centralfifetimes.co.uk or take them to the Times Office, 17 Bank Street, Lochgelly, on a Monday or a Friday.
