LOCHGELLY cycling veteran, Andrew Greenhorn, was delighted with the fundraising levels for CHAS created by the sponsored cycle organised by him.

The 75 year-old and five others headed from Lochgelly to Milnathort, via the CHAS site at Kinross, and back.

Andrew led the group consisting of John Gilfillan, Tracey Martin, Jim Seymour, Alan Whitehead and 'Craw' and in decent weather they set off at 10.45am on Sunday June 11.

The Ballingry Street cyclist was happy with the day things went: "We had 10 taking part originally but four of them had to withdraw due to personal circumstances.

"However, the six of us thoroughly enjoyed the 24 mile trip and in excellent conditions, which was in sharp contrast to last year when it rained heavily throughout the run.

"When we got back, courtesy of the management of the King's Arms in Auchterderran Road, we were able to have hot soup, tea or cof fee and sausage rolls which was a really nice way to finish the event and I cannot thank them enough.

"I have been out and about looking for sponsors and again I haave been fortunate to have a number of people both in Lochgelly and Cowdenbeath, prepared to support CHAS and already then total is standing at £1,600 but there is more to come in.

"Also the other cyclists have been busy collecting from their sponsors so I would like to think we will be standing at over £3,000 by the time it is all in."

Andrew added: "I would like to thank John, Tracey, Jim, Alan and Craw for taking part and raising cash for CHAS and I would also like to thank everyone who has sponsored myself, including the bowling clubs and pubs in the area and in Dunfermline..

"It was an excellent effort by everyone."
