THE TV cameras were in Cowdenbeath High Street when a town's business was featured on the Janey Kirk Show.

The show features a number of sketches and in one of them called 'Doris and Daisy's Croney Capers', the duo and Fanny are desperate for some new shoes.

Where better to go an get them than Uptown Girl, in Cowdenbeath, the business at the Fountain end of High Street which can fit a lady out for a wedding or any major occasion

Jean Young, who runs Uptown Girl, was a bit surprised to be asked by Janey Kirk, of the Sky 389 programme, which is also shown on Freesat 516 and Freeview 87, if she minded a visit from the camera team.

Said Jean: "It's great publicity for the shop but also highlights Cowdenbeath High Street as folk would want to know where the shop is!

"It is good at a time when the High Street is being given a big makeover to get this type of publicity. We are all trying to do what we can to help promote the High Street and get folk back shopping here".

She added: "I had never heard of Janey Kirk before but she's a Kirkcaldy singer/songwriter and I am a Kirkcaldy girl as well!

"Her shows are on: Sky Channel 389, Freesat 516 and Freeview 87 on a Wednesday at 11pm and repeated on a Saturday at 11am.

"This show, with the shop featured, was just shown on her show there on Wednesday night and is then shared on you tube as well".

Jean said that Janey had posted on Facebook asking if anyone knew a local small biz shoe shop they could film in and a couple of people had left comments recommending she contact her at Uptown Girl.

Added Jean: "I knew nothing about it until she got in touch with me and it went from that I thought was just me allowing them to use the shop for filming but then it turned out she wanted me to play myself in the sketch as well!

"I never expected see myself in a comedy sketch but I thought it was great

publicity for the shop and our High Street.

"So far it has been quite well received and I have had quite a few comments and shares around Facebook. The power of social media!"
