REDEVELOPING industrial units in the town is still high on Lochgelly Community Council’s priority list.

The community council had the issue on their agenda at their May meeting and while the 'excellent work' done in High Street was praised, the lack of action on the derelict Fabtec building in Hall Street was seen as a major problem.

Community Councillor Jimmy Mann said: “Since raising the need to regenerate this area I appreciate that progress has been made behind the scenes, but with all of the great work going on around about these buildings, it is frustrating that there continues to be a complete eyesore!”

Community Councillors noted that Fife Council had approved plans for a new 18 hole golf course next to the Loch.

Highlighting that in 2014, the Community Council objected to the proposals based on the fact that there are already four golf clubs in the immediate area.

It was noted that although there have been changes in the Community Councillors since then, this fact still remains the same.

Access to the plans are available on the Community Council website www.lochgellycc.org.uk.

The next meeting of the Community Council is scheduled for June 12, 6.30pm in the 385 Social Club.  Members of the public are welcome to attend.
