THE bid to unite mining heritage in the Cowdenbeath-Lochgelly area came ever closer when volunteers came together to talk about the various plans in the pipeline.
Representatives from local Heritage Groups including Kelty, Cardenden and Benarty met with Lochgelly Heritage Group to discuss the proposed Lochgelly Heritage Centre.
Included in the discussion were several representatives from Fife Council and other interested parties who are involved in the siting and construction of the building.
It is proposed the Centre be built on the site of the Happyland in Lochgelly, north of the public park.
A spokesperson for Lochgelly Heritage Group said: "It was a very good get-together. The next step will be to sink bore holes to check the land is suitable for the construction of the building”.
This will be a miner’s cottage which will be made to reflect the life of a mining family 60 years ago.
