POPULAR STV weatherman Sean Batty was back in the classroom at Cowdenbeath Primary to raise funds for STV Children’s Appeal 2017.

Sean visited Broad Street last Tuesday to join pupils and teachers for a host of fun events to raise money for children and young people in Scotland affected by poverty.

He had a great time leading the children and teachers along with parents and grandparents in a series of work outs.

Sean said: “I have been a long time supporter and fundraiser for the STV Children’s Appeal, having cycled across the Western Isles and Northern Isles, competed in highland games, sporting events, baking contests and climbed Ben Nevis to raise money for Scotland’s children.

“Over the years, schools across the country have been some of the best fundraisers, so this year I’ll be doing something completely different by going on a fundraising tour of schools.

“I’ll be taking part in sports days, bush tucker trials, danceatons and sandcastle building, to name just a few things.

“I can’t wait to meet everyone and get involved in their different activities.

“It was great to be able to come to Cowdenbeath and to see the enthusiasm of the children and also the staff and parents and grandparents.”

Sean was popular with the youngsters as they kept active during the morning session.

The STV Children’s Appeal is committed to helping children and young people affected by poverty in Scotland.

The money raised by the STV Children’s Appeal helps make a real difference in the lives of Scotland’s children and young people by providing practical help like food and warm clothes; creating opportunities for training and employability; and enabling social and emotional support for those who need it most.

In its first six years the Appeal has raised over £13.7 million.

This has allowed them to make 722 big and small awards to projects across all 32 local authority areas in Scotland, providing much needed support to over 62,000 children.
