THE children of Kelty's St Joseph's Primary School have been warmly thanked for making a collection for Benarty Food Bank.

Pupils Emily McColl and Amerah Abdulattif were delighted to hand over the collection on behalf of their Primary 2 colleagues.

The St Joseph's youngsters collected 41.2kgs which were collected by Stephen Nardone of the Benarty Food Bank and Johnny Astle of the Dunfermline Food Bank base which supplies both the Cowdenbeath and Benarty facilities.

Said Emily and Amerah: "As part f our Lenten Promise we decided as a class to collect and donate it to the local food bank.

"We contacted the food bank at the Crosshill Centre and Johnny and Stevie came to the class to talk to about who we would be helping and where the food would be going

"We were all delighted to see the food bank van."

Stevie said: "On behalf of the Benarty Food Bank I would like to thank the children for the donation, teaching assistant Mora Haddow for her assistance and Claire Campbell for putting the school in touch with us."
