SARAH Hendry wants to see children in the Benarty area dancing taking part in this summer's Benarty Highland Dancing competition.

She has started a dance school in Benarty and says that she feels that it is important that local dancers should take part in the competition that goes with the Lochore Meadows Pipe Band Competition.

Said Sarah: "I have a dance school that has been based in Glenrothes for over 20 years and after being asked to organise the Highland Dance competition in conjunction with the Pipe Band competition in June, found there was a need for a Highland class in Benarty area. There seems to be a big background of pipers but not so many dancers to match.

"I teach children and adults and have dancers who compete up to World Championship level and also have dancers who attend purely for recreation. "Dancers can learn to take part in displays as we do a lot of community events, eg care homes, gala days and charity fundraisers. A lot of my senior dancers now travel the world dancing in International Tattoos and events.

"I have a desire to allow dancers from the Benarty area the same opportunities and I have a willingness to make this succeed in this area".

Sarah will be teaching for two hours on a Wednesday night at the Benarty Centre 6-7pm (age 3-6yrs) and 7-8pm (age 7yrs+), this gives 32 children the opportunity to benefit from this tuition.

There are limited spaces still available. Contact Sarah on 07954422860 for further details.
