P4W WEEKLY NEWS

WORLD Book Day fever hit Abercromby Primary School earlier this month.

The special event is a day set aside to celebrate books, authors and illustrators with the aim to encourage people to read more.

The school celebrated the day by taking part in lots of different challenges set by the teachers. These included snapping a reading selfie in a 'weird' place, completing a review on a novel recently read, designing a new book token, swapping books and dressing up as favourite characters.

P4W interviewed lots of different pupils and teachers in the school to see what they had dressed up as and what they thought about reading.

Miss Davies said it was important to read to "learn new words".

Deputy headteacher Mrs Penman, who was dressed up as Professor Minerva McGonagall from Harry Potter added: "Books allow you to find information and expand your imagination."

All donated money from the day will be put towards new books for the school library.
