GROWING cannabis in a bedroom proved costly for one Ballingry man.

Kevin Wood (45), of Martin Crescent, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

He had earlier admitted that between September 1 last year and January 3 this year, both dates inclusive, he had produced the class B drug in his home.

Depute Fiscal, Dev Kapadia, said police officers went to Wood's house after a warrant had been granted.

He wasn't there, however, on checking the property, they found an upstairs bedroom was being used to cultivate cannabis.

The set up indicated six plants had been grown and cropped and there were stalks and buds hanging in different parts of the room as part of the drying process.

The total value of the plants was estimated at around £3000.

Defence solicitor Gordon Martin said the set up "might be described as a domestic operation" and added that the six plants were solely for Wood's own use.

Sheriff Charles Macnair ordered Wood to pay a fine of £750.
