A LOCHGELLY nursery has made a donation of £1000 to the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh.

The staff and children at the Noah's Ark Nursery, in Auchterderran Road, raised the funds through several fundraising ventures inspired by the story of one of their pupils.

As part of the fund raising and awareness for Lochgelly tot Ava Stark, three staff from Noah's Ark visited Ward 2 - Sick Kids, Edinburgh.

Ava suffers from a rare condition which needed a stem cell transplant and after a considerable search covering the whole UK a donor was found just before Christmas and the tot is now making good progress.

But the work of the staff at the Sick Kids Hospital has been warmly praised by Ava's family and it has inspired the Noah's Ark staff to undertake a number of ventures.

Noah's Ark's Karen Robertson said: "The purpose of the visit was to present them with the cheque for £1000 which was raised from a variety of events organised by the nursery.

"Staff were delighted with the money raised and couldn't thank the nursery enough!

"The hospital have promised to keep us in touch and let the nursery know what the money has been used for".
