MSPs and Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) from all over Scotland met up at a Parliamentary reception to focus on the views and voices of young people in Scotland and Kinglassie MSP Jenny Gilruth welcomed the opportunity.

The event, hosted by the youngest-ever MSP, Ross Greer, focused on the Scottish Youth Parliament’s 2016-2021 Manifesto, ‘Lead the Way’.

Lead the Way is based on the analysis of 72,744 consultation responses from young people all over Scotland, and outlines their views on 54 different issues, everything from climate change to physical assault on children.

At the reception, MSPs got the opportunity to meet with their local MSYP to discuss the issues affecting young people specifically in their area.

Ms Gilruth said: “Lead the Way offers Scotland’s young people an opportunity to help shape the country’s future and I was delighted to meet with this group of dedicated MSYPs to hear their views on so many important policy issues.

"They are truly leading the way in ensuring the voices of young people across the country continue to be heard.”
