THE #PowertotheBump campaign is back with a new video answering concerns from young expectant mothers about their health and wellbeing in the workplace.

Research by the Equality and Human Rights Commission shows that more than one in five mothers aged under 25 experienced a negative impact on their health and stress levels while pregnant, due to their experiences at work.

#PowertotheBump aims to help young mums to know and assert their rights in the workplace, ultimately reducing pregnancy and maternity discrimination.

Adding his support to the campaign, Roger Mullin, MP for the Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency, said:

“I am very glad to support #PowertotheBump. No woman should face discrimination at work due to pregnancy, or endure the stress, depression and anxiety such treatment can cause.

“It is extremely important that new and expectant mothers know their rights in the workplace and are confident enough to assert them. This is vital to making workplaces more equal.”
