However, when Sunday dawned the storm clouds had cleared and the sun was peaking through.

After the prizes were awarded the parade were underway and headd from West End Park and down Main Street and Bank Street, heading for the Public Park.

There were a whole host of floats taking part including the Co-op, Minto Lounge, Noah’s Ark Nursery, Lochgelly Albert Colts and also involved were be Lochgelly Tae Kwon Do, Newfoundland Dogs, the Army, Cowdenbeath Majorettes, the Salvation Army, the Lochgelly scouts, stock cars and sports cars.

Music came from Lochgelly Brass Band, Kirkcaldy Pipe Band and Drumatics.

At the park the gala day was opened by MP Roger Mullin will in motion a packed programme.

McIntyre’s Fun Fare provided a variety of rides and there were bungee jumps, a climbing wall, pony rides, the RockGelly special climbing frames and two magicians along with displays from Lochgelly Heritage Group and Lochgelly Going Forward plus charity stalls.

The park was a picture in the sunshine as everyone enjoyed the occasion and the kids had a great time on the various rides.

The three intrepid gala organisers enjoyed the day and admitted that there had been one or two concerns about the weather but they were so pleased with the way things turned out.
