BRITISH astronaut Tim Peake's return to Earth over the past few days has had special significance for two young Denend Primary School pupils.

For Porsha Tall (11) and Aiden Cuthbert (10) were both at St Andrews University Space School where they learned a great deal about Tim's mission on the International Space Station and about life in Space in general.

The two pupils at the Cardenden School made eight visits to the Space School and they enjoyed taking part in experiments run in the various workshops they attended.

One of their most interesting experiences was filling balloons with different gasses and finding out how these reacted. Seeing how hydrogen behaved particularly interested them.

Porsha said: "I feel so fortunate to have been able to go to the Space School, it has taught me a lot and has made me think abour becoming a scientists when I grow up."

Aiden added: "I agree, it has given me a real insight into the world of Space travel and science and I would love to be able to do what Tim Peake has achieved or become a Space engineer."

Both said it was a really great experience which would stay with them for a long time.
