ON National Libraries Day (Saturday), UNISON warned that more local government cuts will have a drastic impact on libraries across Fife, 'decreasing opportunities for all, and increasing poverty and inequality'.
Fife Cultural Trust currently has a proposal for 16 libraries to close in the Kingdom including the facilities in Bowhill and Crossgates.
Gray Allan, UNISON Scotland libraries spokesperson said, "Cutting library budgets is another way of entrenching inequalities. Libraries are a way that poorer families get access to the same breadth of reading materials as everyone else.
"Fully resourced libraries support education, the economy and play an important role in bringing equality."
