THE community groups who will help make Kelty’s Five Year Community Action Plan a reality came together for a ‘cheque-fest’ as they were all presented with their share of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s participatory budget at a special ceremony in Kelty Bowling Club.

The CRT put up a £20,000 participatory budget to get priority projects in their Coalfields Community Futures programme in Kelty off the ground, and Fife Council’s Cowdenbeath Area Committee put up another £10,000.

Alex Rowley, local MSP and Labour’s Deputy Leader in Scotland, and Provost Jim Leishman joined the Coalfields Regeneration Trust’s Scottish Trustee Bob Young to present cheques to the local organisations involved.

Bob Young, Scottish Trustee of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust said: “This really was a great event.

“It’s not often you get so many organisations together in one place to collect awards that will enable them to make such a big difference to their local community." Watch out next week for more on the presentations.
