A DVD on Cowdenbeath has just been produced and released entitled 'Old Cowdenbeath', comprising a collection of archive images and old photographs.

It is narrated and presented by Bill Livingstone, a native of Cowdenbeath, whose father had a painting and decorating business in the town.

Bill had a keen interest in photography and used his knowledge and expertise to build up an archive of photographs which he later donated to Dunfermline Library.

The collection was also donated to all primary and secondary schools in Dunfermline as an educational resource to raise awareness of local history.

"I first showed these old photographs in the 1960’s. The response was overwhelming and on many occasions members of the public came up to me afterwards and pointed out themselves or relatives who had been in the photographs. I'm delighted that the collection has proven so popular with scholars and historians.” said Bill.

The images in this week’s Memory Lane are taken from the DVD which was made with assistance from Cowdenbeath Area Committee. Copies will be donated to local schools and to care homes for the elderly where they will be used in reminiscence work.

Copies are on sale in Kassy's Kitchen in Cowdenbeath High Street with some of the proceeds going towards Cowdenbeath Civic Week.
