MSP for Mid-Scotland and Fife, Jayne Baxter, was putting her constituency and Parliamentary papers aside on Friday in favour of joining children’s charity Barnardo’s Scotland to celebrate Universal Children’s Day.

The MSP visited the charity’s shop on Cowdenbeath High Street to find out how the shop helps the charity’s children’s services in the local area, and how that benefits children, young people and the local community.

Universal Children’s Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1954 to be a day of understanding between children and to promote children’s welfare and children’s rights.

Barnardo’s Scotland is holding a series of events in their shops and services across the country to coincide with the day to highlight the welfare and rights of children and young people.
