THE 4 Winds Trust, which was formed to oversee the distribution of the community grants generated by the Little Raith Wind Farm, announced this week that almost £100,000 has been distributed to local groups.

Over the past two years 70 groups have benefited from grants available to support their objectives.

The Community Fund has been given a quarterly grant of £15K per quarter from little Raith and the Trustees are appointed from the Community Councils in Auchtertool, Lochgelly, Cowdenbeath and Lumphinnians.

Lumphinnans CC's Amelia Howie, who is one of the Trustees, commented: “I am very pleased that we are able to support groups the way we can.

"It is great that large events which take place in the towns such as galas and Christmas Lights switch-ons can rely on investment from the Trust, but I also take great pleasure in seeing small groups, who have little means of income, benefiting.

"When groups are given the awards you can see that they are grateful for the support provided and hopefully the community funds can go a long way to securing their future".

Added Amelia: “The group consider all applications from local groups and organisations whether it is for painting the Auchtertool Village hall, transport for old folks outings or to paying for shelves in the community shop, so long as there is a need it will be considered. "We understand that organisers need support for their events and these funds should be used to help them.

"For example Lochgelly’s Gala this year received £2000 from the Trust which I am sure was greatly appreciated and helped make it a success. Similarly Cowdenbeath Civic week and the Lumphinnians Fun Day were given grants to help their events.”

Stevie Murray, who chairs the Trust Board concluded: “The application process couldn’t be easier and so long as your group is based in one of the four communities then you can apply.

"Application forms are available at our website www.4windstrust.com all you need to do is complete a few simple questions and return along with some required documents".
