KIDS from Cardenden have been playing their part in helping ensure a food bank has plenty to distribute.

On Thursday the RAC (Rights at Cardenden) Group from Cardenden Primary attended a special event at Tesco in Cardenden.

They joined members from the Kirkcaldy Food Bank team and pupils from Denend Primary in donating crate loads of non perishable food.

Last year, as part of Cardenden Primary's Rights Respecting School Award, the pupils chose to support Kirkcaldy Food Bank as their local charity.

Pupils and families fromCcardenden Primary take food to school regularly for Kirkcaldy Foodbank. The RAC group visited the Food Bank in April and saw for themselves the work involved in creating parcels of food for those in need.

They assisted in selecting the correct items from the store, checking them off a list and packing them.

The Cardenden pupils have shared this work in the village and, aided by Mrs Angela Hutchison, School Support Assistant, and have been ambitious in bringing other organisations on board.

They have now managed to involve another local primary, Denend Primary in similar work. As Tesco have now also offered to help collect, it has been too much for Mrs Hutchison to deliver to Kirkcaldy each week! Kirkcaldy Food Bank will now arrange weekly pick -ps!

A Minion is pictured with the pupils and Tesco were kind enough to give each pupil a goody bag.

Susan Harper, Headteacher, at Cardenden Primary said: "I am so proud of the staff , pupils and families of Cardenden-they are generous and kind.

"The work of our RAC group in school perfectly demonstrates the school values of Care,Ambition and Respect!"
