A GROUP of 11 Advanced Higher Biology Beath pupils attended a field trip to Kindrogan to carry out some of the practical techniques required as part of their course.

The pupils examined a pond - looking for different types of plant life, a river - to examine the different invertebrates that live in both, polluted and unpolluted sections and at different areas of grassland.

During the trip pupils used different techniques to sample the environments around them. After they had the data they then analysed it back in the lab.

Just after they returned a group of Advanced Higher Geography pupils followed in their footsteps to take part in a three day fieldcourse at Kindrogan.

They joined with 40 pupils from several other Fife schools to put into practice skills and methods that will be integral to their course.

The weather during the field trip was cold but at least it was dry, which was fortunate, as most of the time was spent outside gathering data on various aspects of rivers, soils, slopes and vegetation.
