A PORTRAYAL of the life of Eva Cassidy through video, voice and song will be presented by Elsa Jean McTaggart at Lochgelly Centre on Saturday September 15.

Elsa presents a tribute to her all-time favourite artiste Eva Cassidy. With voice and guitar, she brings alive the essence of Eva as she relates the songs to the beautiful and yet tragic story of one of the world's most iconic voices, which was not brought to light until two years after her untimely death at 33.

Elsa's voice has been described as 'smooth as velvet...sultry' (Joe Simmons, Edinburgh Tonight) and "One of these very few people with a distinctive enough voice to do the music and songs of Eva Cassidy justice." (Tom King Southside Advertiser).

Eva Cassidy was an American singer and guitarist known for her interpretations of jazz and blues.

In 1992, she released her first album, The Other Side, a set of duets with go-go musician Chuck Brown, followed by the 1996 live solo album titled Live at Blues Alley.

Although she had been honored by the Washington Area Music Association, she was virtually unknown outside her native Washington, D.C.. She died of melanoma in 1996.
