HAVING premiered to full houses at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe, What The Funk will take you on a journey of the musical genre with well-known local institution Lights Out By Nine.

The Adam Smith Theatre presents the show on Saturday March 17. Featuring a full horn section paired with the Hammond organ, explore the early days of stax and southern soul music, right through to the bass grooves and alternative back beats of what became known as ‘the funk.’

With hits from the likes of Otis Redding, Arthur Conley James Brown, covered alongside the more modern movers, such as The Average White Band and Tower of Power, it’s time to don your wide leg trousers, put on your hat and get ready to party.

The second half of the show features a live set from the house band, Lights Out By Nine. Having supported the likes of Status Quo, AWB, and Paul Carrack, the Fife based band have been in the music industry for 30 years this year. Having recorded at London’s Maida Vale Studios, played to packed houses at Glasgow’s Barrowlands and recently at Celtic Connections, the group hits the Adam Smith Theatre with classic soul and funk hits, along with some complimentary original material.
