GO and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Scotland’s most loved play at the King's Theatre, Edinburgh, on Monday November 6!

It’s Hogmanay in a Glasgow wash house, and the girls need to get their washing done before the bells.

Join Dolly, Magrit, Doreen and Mrs Culfeathers as they laugh and cry their way through the last day of the year – with a little help from the not so handy Andy.

First performed in May 1987, The Steamie has delighted and entertained audiences all over the world. Writer Tony Roper directs this new 30th anniversary touring production starring Libby McArthur, Mary McCusker, Steven McNicoll, Carmen Pieraccini and Fiona Wood.

The Steamie is a comedy-drama stage play, written by Tony Roper. It followed the lives of a group of 1950s Glasgow women washing their clothes in a public washhouse (steamie). It was first performed at the Crawford Theatre, Glasgow in 1987.

A television version was made by Scottish Television for Hogmanay 1988. It gained immediate popularity, and has been repeated many times over the years. It starred Dorothy Paul, Eileen McCallum, Katy Murphy, Sheila Donald, Faye Milligan and Peter Mullan. Future EastEnders cast member Caroline Paterson also made an appearance. Haldane Duncan co-produced and directed it. A novelisation, also by Tony Roper, was published in 2005.

To win a pair of tickets for the show at the King's on Monday November 6 tell us who wrote the Steamie and send your entry to the Times Office 17 Bank Street, Lochgelly, KY5 9QQ by Monday October 30.
