DIRECTED by: Christopher Nolan and starring Harry Styles, Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy, Dunkirk comes to the screen of the Rothes Halls on Thursday September 21 and Friday September 22.
This modern take on a famous story is one very much worth seeing.
400,000 Allied soldiers were trapped on the beach at Dunkirk, surrounded by the German army in the early days of the Second World War and they needed to be evacuated.
More than 800 boats – from military ships to tiny civilian fishing boats – came to help with the evacuation that would become known as the “Miracle of Dunkirk”.
Acclaimed director Christopher Nolan brings his vision to Dunkirk, one of the defining events of the 20th Century.
It was one of the key moments in the war as had the hundreds of thousands of troops not got back to Blighty who knows how things could have turned out.
