James Ryan Popenhagen, is far from your average artiste - he is a multi-talented, well rounded individual sculpted by his love for music from the 1950s and 60s.

In the 1980s he had the fortune of meeting a close family friend who was known to the world as Del Shannon, the famous rock 'n roller known for his No 1 hit song "Runaway." From that moment on, James knew he would pursue a career in the music industry and didn't waste a moment getting started.

With inspirations such as Elvis and Chuck Berry, he formed his first band at the age of 12, filling various shoes, from bassist and guitarist to frontman/lead vocalist, then continued gigging through his teen years with other oldies bands, including his brothers in "The Deville's."

Over the years, James has recorded over a dozen albums and with many of his musical idols including Johnny Rivers, Albert Lee, Jack Scott, Lloyd Price, Frankie Ford, The Tymes, Brian Hyland and Tommy Roe.
