THE Edinburgh Tattoo has had a Lochgelly connection with the appearances of young drummer Kieran Bissett.

But part of the theme is very much the new aircraft carriers, built at Rosyth, which is evident from the large sign on the outer face of the East Stand that everyone will see as they approach the Esplanade and the full scale F35 Lightning II model hanging underneath it and the finale of each performance will be held 'on the flight deck'. As the 220,000 storing audience arrives they will also walk the Lightning.

The Flight Deck Team will be the smartly dressed sailors who will meet and greet the public and the VIPs as they arrive at the entrance under the East Stand and will later be seen in flight overall on the Esplanade as it is transformed into the Flight Deck of HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH for the Finale. These will be a mixture of personnel from across the Navy including a number from HMS PRINCE OF WALES.

The Tattoo runs until August 26.
