THE silver screen at the Adam Smith Theatre has a powerful drama on Friday February 17.

Director Amma Asante has stars: David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike and Jack Davenport in The United Kingdom.

It is a romantic drama based on the true story of an African prince who fell in love with a white British woman in the 1940s.

When the time comes for him to go home to take his place on the throne of Bechuanaland, he refuses to leave without Ruth and so the two marry and return as husband and wife.

With British Government official Alistair Canning threatening Ruth with the knowledge that her marriage could cause the downfall of the British Empire in Africa, the couple do everything they can to convince the world that they can be an interracial couple and still successfully lead a country.

A very strong story which has a great ending.
