Statue critics 'missing the point'

I have read with interest over the last few months all the dissidents against the recent addition to our town, the statue at The Cross and I have had enough so I have penned my own opinion on this forum.

I have to say that it seems that our “unpaid reporter” of Lochgelly (Davie Kinnell) and his cronies have missed the point in the statue.

Does it not show the struggle of the miners? The falling timbers and the miner holding it up? Does that not symbolise the miners' struggle? After all that is what art is all about- individual perception/opinion.

I myself come from a long line of miners, although I am too young to have worked in a pit. Maybe Mr Kinnell might shoot me down because of that.

Would the negativity from within this town not be put to better use in giving us his regular updates to the flaring at 'The Moss' or the unmanned roadworks that have haunted our town recently?
